FHS Africa has rescheduled its summit to take place on April 28-29, 2027, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda. This new timing aligns with the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) to enhance collaboration in hospitality investment, tourism promotion, and business development throughout the region. The event was originally set for February 2-3, 2027.
The decision to adjust the dates aims to create synergies between the two significant events, fostering stronger ties between the international hospitality investment community and Uganda’s tourism sector. This collaboration is expected to open up new opportunities for showcasing Uganda as a prime destination for business and leisure travel.
Industry stakeholders and partners were consulted in the decision-making process regarding the revised schedule. The new arrangement is anticipated to attract investors, hotel owners, developers, and tourism leaders from Africa and beyond, facilitating dynamic interactions that could enhance Uganda’s tourism appeal.
Matthew Weihs, Chief Development Officer at The Bench, expressed enthusiasm about the alignment with POATE. He noted that this partnership will bring hospitality investment and tourism sectors closer together, allowing for the exploration of Uganda’s potential as a lucrative travel and investment destination. “Through this alignment, we can create even greater opportunities for our delegates, sponsors and partners,” he said.
Juliana Kagwa, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, highlighted the wealth of opportunities that Uganda offers, emphasizing the country’s natural attractions and growing tourism infrastructure. “Aligning FHS Africa with POATE presents an exciting opportunity to strengthen the connection between tourism promotion and hospitality investment,” she stated, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable growth in Uganda’s tourism and hospitality industries.
Additionally, Uganda is set to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 with Kenya and Tanzania in mid-2027. This major sporting event is expected to attract global attention, further emphasizing the importance of the FHS Africa summit and its alignment with POATE prior to the tournament.
The summit will feature discussions and networking opportunities that focus on trends and investment prospects within Africa’s hospitality sector. These initiatives aim to position Kampala as a pivotal location for stakeholders in tourism and hospitality to engage with emerging opportunities and contribute to the sector’s growth.
