The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is investing $15 million into television advertisements across 49 House districts as it ramps up efforts leading into the election next week. This funding is aimed at broadening the campaign’s reach and signifies a push for significant gains on Election Day.
Among the targets are four districts where the DCCC is allocating resources for the first time. These districts, all of which were won by President Donald Trump by double-digit margins in previous elections, include Nevada’s 2nd District, Florida’s 7th District, Virginia’s 5th District, and Tennessee’s 5th District. The Nevada seat is open following the retirement of GOP Rep. Mark Amodei, while Florida’s seat has been redrawn. In Virginia, Republican Rep. John McGuire is seeking re-election, and in Tennessee, the seat is open due to the loss of Republican Rep. Andy Ogles in the primary.
Of the 49 districts targeted, 36 represent “offensive” opportunities, meaning they are seats not currently held by Democrats. This strategy reflects the DCCC’s intention to expand their influence in key areas where they see potential for taking back the House majority.
DCCC Executive Director Julie Merz stated, “The DCCC knew we would have to expand our battlefield as wide as possible in order to win back a governing majority; and thanks to our strategic decision to stay nimble in placing coordinated campaign spending, coupled with the strength of our candidates and the message of lowering costs that they’re running on, we’re poised to take back the House in just one week.”
The full list of districts receiving funding includes battlegrounds across various states, such as Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, among others.
