Following a disappointing series loss in South Africa, Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins expressed the need for potential changes ahead of the upcoming series against New Zealand in December.
Cummins highlighted concerns regarding several top-order batters, with their averages falling below 22 during the recent matches. He noted that discussions about team selection are necessary after losing two consecutive games. “It’s fair to be asking those questions (of selections),” Cummins stated, adding that the team would be examining these issues internally as well.
Despite the setbacks, Cummins maintained confidence in the team’s abilities. He remarked, “We are a very good side, but I think we need to get a little bit better if we want to get back to number one and where we think we can be.” He suggested that adjustments might involve altering the team’s playing style or considering changes in personnel.
The Australian squad will now prepare for the series against New Zealand, where further evaluations of player performance and strategies are expected prior to the matches.
