An Asia AI Network Initiative was officially announced at the 2026 Beijing Forum, which concluded recently. The initiative aims to foster collaboration on AI testing standards and technical specifications to enhance the rigor, transparency, and trustworthiness of artificial intelligence development.
The forum, themed “technoscientific change and civilizational diversity,” convened participants to discuss topics related to digital development within the context of diverse civilizations. Former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin and former UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova were among the notable attendees, delivering keynote speeches during the event.
As part of the ongoing digital discourse, the 2026 Beijing Forum follows the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, where over 4,000 international enterprises are presenting their latest technologies and products. This year’s edition of CIIE is noteworthy for its record high of more than 480 exhibits making their global, Asian, or China debuts.
AMD, a global technology leader, is using the event to highlight its focus on cloud computing power and AI agent hosts. Pan Xiaoming, AMD’s senior vice president and president of AMD Greater China, stated, “We have always considered China a very important market for AMD globally, and a key component of the global innovation ecosystem.” He expressed confidence in China’s innovative vitality and its comprehensive industrial ecosystem, stating this facilitates a wide range of technological adaptations.
At CIIE, Qualcomm showcased a prototype of a 6G terminal, marking its first public appearance at a major global exhibition. Frank Meng, chairman of Qualcomm China, remarked on the growing prospects in the AI era and emphasized the importance of collaboration within China’s mobile communications industry, which he believes will lead to mutually beneficial partnerships in the future.
The Asia AI Network Initiative and ongoing exhibitions at CIIE are expected to play critical roles in shaping the future of technology collaboration across the region.
