The 2026 Idemitsu FIM Moto4 Asia Cup is set for a decisive Race 2 on Sunday following a dramatic Race 1 on Saturday, which was halted by a red flag. Qabil Irfan secured his second victory of the season, finishing ahead of Resky Yusuf and Waku Kunitate.
The race saw an early lead from Togashi, who took the holeshot. However, the competition intensified among a 13-rider pack featuring all the title contenders. Throughout the race, Bintang Pranata maintained a position in the top three, frequently battling with Togashi, Irfan, and Kunitate. Meanwhile, Hayato Chishiki, the championship leader, struggled to gain momentum, fluctuating between 6th and 11th positions against riders like Muhammad Badly, Noprutpong Bunprawes, and Teerin Fleming.
The race ended prematurely on Lap 10 due to a collision on the main straight involving Qayyim Razin and Kotaro Tohashi. The two riders weaved across the track, resulting in Chishiki and Naqib crashing. Thankfully, all riders involved were reported to be uninjured. Following the incident, Razin and Tohashi received post-race penalties for their involvement.
With Race 1 concluded, the championship picture remains competitive, as Pranata sits just 19 points behind Chishiki, who is leading the standings, while Kunitate trails by an additional four points.
The final showdown, featuring three contenders vying for the championship with only 24 points separating them, is scheduled for Sunday at 13:35 local time (UTC +3).
