Bangladesh Military Advance Team En Route to Haiti
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) directorate of Bangladesh announced that an advance team of 50 military personnel has left Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Their mission is to support the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) in Haiti.
Authorities have not revealed the specific landing details for security reasons. However, a military flight from South Asia to the Caribbean typically involves technical stops for refueling, taking approximately 24 to 48 hours. Therefore, the team is expected to arrive at Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince between Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17, 2026.
This advance team’s role is to prepare for the arrival of the main contingent of Bangladeshi troops, which will include around 1,600 police and military personnel expected to reach Haiti between mid-October and late November.
Before their departure, Lieutenant General Mohammad Mainur Rahman, Chief of General Staff of the Bangladesh Army, met with the advance personnel at Army Headquarters in Dhaka. He underscored the importance of professionalism, discipline, and vigilance, and highlighted the necessity for security during their operations in Haiti.
