Air Transat has announced the year-round operation of its route to Puerto Plata, enhancing vacation package options from Canada to the Dominican Republic. The airline will maintain a weekly flight to the northern tourist destination every Monday throughout the summer.
“With Puerto Plata now available year-round, we are also strengthening our schedule from Quebec City with a more diverse offering, both to Europe and to sun destinations,” said Sebastian Ponce, Transat’s revenue director.
Stéphane Poirier, president and CEO of Quebec City’s Jean Lesage International Airport, highlighted the significance of this service. “Year-round service to Puerto Plata also confirms the continued appeal of this sunny destination, which is excellent news for travelers looking for a getaway in any season,” he stated.
In addition to the Puerto Plata service, Air Transat plans to introduce two new transatlantic routes from Quebec City to Lyon and Barcelona for the summer season of 2027. The flight to Barcelona will mark the first direct service between Quebec City and Spain.
The flights to Lyon are set to begin on June 8, 2027, and will operate weekly on Tuesdays until October 26. Meanwhile, the Barcelona route is scheduled to start on June 14, 2027, with service every Monday until October 25.
