Energy company Eni announced on Monday that it has signed contracts for subsea infrastructure and pipelines associated with its offshore natural gas project in Cyprus. The contracts are aimed at enhancing the extraction, treatment, and transportation of natural gas to Egypt, where it will undergo liquefaction.
Once processed, the liquefied gas is expected to be shipped primarily to Europe, contributing to the continent’s efforts to bolster energy supply security amid recent global market disruptions. Eni’s operational chief noted that this development aligns with the growing trend of companies looking to explore offshore resources in Europe.
The production from the Cyprus project is scheduled to commence in 2028, marking a significant milestone in Eni’s ongoing initiatives in the region. The strategic partnership with Egypt is part of a broader effort to meet rising energy demands and mitigate reliance on traditional supply channels.
