The New York Giants have signed cornerback Greg Newsome II to a three-year contract extension worth $46 million, as reported by ESPN on Tuesday. The deal includes $32 million in guaranteed money.
Newsome, who joined the Giants on a one-year, $8 million deal in March, will see his average annual value rise to $15.3 million with this new contract. This amount is relatively low compared to other top cornerbacks in the NFL, placing him outside the top 20 in terms of highest-paid players at his position.
So far this season, Newsome has played in six games, allowing 53.6% of targets against him to be completed. He boasts a passer rating against of just 57.7, which could set a new career high for him—his previous career low was 73.2, achieved during his time with the Cleveland Browns in 2023 and 2025. In addition, he has yet to allow a touchdown this season and has only given up two completions of 20 or more yards, while also securing one interception.
Originally drafted by the Browns with the 26th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Newsome played in Cleveland for four and a half seasons before being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in early October of last season. His time with the Jaguars was challenging; he permitted five passing touchdowns in 12 games with the team. Since joining the Giants, Newsome’s performance has significantly improved, prompting the team to extend his contract beyond the current season.
