Haiti – Security: Meeting of the PNH High Command with Departmental Directors
The High Command of the Haitian National Police (PNH) convened a monthly meeting with Departmental Directors on October 8, 2026, to address critical security issues facing the nation. The session, led by Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Paraison, included in-person participation from the Directors of West 1 and West 2, while nine others joined via videoconference.
During the meeting, the Departmental Directors reported on the security situations within their jurisdictions, highlighting various challenges in their operational environments. They emphasized the need for additional personnel and updated equipment, especially given the intensifying security demands during the current election period.
To mitigate risks, the PNH is enhancing measures to prevent kidnappings and combat criminal activities in Port-au-Prince and other areas. The High Command issued directives aimed at bolstering security protocols and ensuring prompt responses to any attempted kidnappings. Increased surveillance of major roadways in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area was also mandated.
The meeting provided a platform to discuss the upcoming graduation of the PNH’s 37th class of recruits, underscoring the importance of expanding police capacity. Commander-in-Chief Paraison reiterated the necessity for Departmental Directors to enforce order and discipline within their ranks and to remain dedicated to promoting peace and security for the Haitian populace.
