Japan continues to hold its position as the top-ranked baseball nation in the world, while the Dominican Republic has made a notable ascent in the latest WBSC World Baseball Rankings following its impressive international performance.
The most recent rankings, updated to reflect results from the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2026, the Asian Games, and the Central American and Caribbean Games, show Japan leading with 6,349 points. Chinese Taipei follows in second place with 5,301 points, and the United States ranks third with 4,293 points. South Korea and Venezuela maintain their spots in the top five, with 4,253 and 3,932 points, respectively.
Mexico has risen to sixth place with 3,229 points, surpassing Puerto Rico, which has slipped to seventh with 3,144 points. The Dominican Republic is the biggest mover in the top ten, climbing to eighth place with 2,737 points after securing a silver medal at the 2026 WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup. Panama has dropped one spot to ninth with 2,694 points, while Australia now ranks tenth with 2,596 points.
The ranking changes are not confined to the top ten. In the broader top 30, Canada has moved up to 18th place, overtaking China, which has fallen to 19th. Spain has also made gains, reaching 25th, reflecting advancements in European baseball. Austria now ranks 27th, and Belgium sits at 28th, showing a growing diversity in global baseball representation beyond traditional powerhouses.
Notably, Puerto Rico, Panama, and Australia have all experienced a decline in their rankings, with Puerto Rico dropping to seventh as Mexico overtook them, while Panama and Australia fell to ninth and tenth, respectively. China has also slipped to 19th.
