Ioanna Nixon, a Clinical Advisor at Gena Health, highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing cancer care during the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 conference in Madrid. Sharing her thoughts on LinkedIn, Nixon emphasized the value of reconnecting with colleagues and the broader global oncology community.
“Great science. Inspiring conversations. An extraordinary global oncology community,” Nixon remarked, underscoring the conference’s significance beyond scientific presentations.
She noted that the event provided an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and foster relationships across continents, particularly among professionals from the UK, Europe, Asia, and the United States. “Science knows no borders, and progress thrives through collaboration,” she quoted, reflecting on the spirit of the conference.
The interactions extended beyond formal settings, with networking and social events, including a gathering organized by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). These informal exchanges were deemed crucial for building partnerships and turning shared ideas into actionable collaborations.
With two passports, five research posters, and a unified goal, Nixon encapsulated the conference’s essence: “Improving cancer care through science, innovation, and partnership.”
As ESMO 2026 wraps up, Nixon expressed hope for continued global collaboration in the fight against cancer and looks forward to future gatherings that foster innovation and partnership in oncology care.
