Microsoft has withdrawn from an agreement to lease data center capacity from Nscale Global Holdings in the U.K. due to issues related to power supply. This development poses challenges for Nscale as it moves toward a public offering.
Nscale announced last year that it acquired a site in Loughton, located on the outskirts of London, which was intended to serve as its first U.K. data center. The facility was designed to have a power capacity of 50 megawatts and was set to utilize approximately 23,000 Nvidia GB300 chips to support Microsoft Azure services.
As Microsoft steps back from this deal, the implications for both companies are still unfolding, particularly in the context of Nscale’s plans to establish itself in the competitive AI infrastructure market. No immediate comments have been made by either company regarding future plans or potential next steps following this decision.
