The Republican Party is facing significant electoral challenges as key voter demographics are shifting away from their support. Notably, Latino and young voters, who previously leaned towards President Trump in 2024, appear to be favoring Democratic candidates in recent polls. According to a Wall Street Journal survey, voters under 30 now prefer Democratic candidates over Republicans for Congress by a margin of 20 percentage points. This marks a dramatic change from the last election, where Trump lost this age group by just 4 percentage points.
However, the most concerning shift for Republicans may be occurring among working-class white voters without a four-year college degree. This group has been a cornerstone of Trump’s support, backing him by over 30 points in 2024 and by 25 points in 2020. Recent indicators suggest that this demographic may also be reevaluating its political affiliations.
