Tyrese Maxey has praised LeBron James for his significant role in fostering a more unselfish play style among his new teammates with the Philadelphia 76ers. Maxey noted that since James joined the team, the players have become more collaborative on the court, sharing responsibilities and demonstrating a willingness to pass the ball.
The 76ers currently hold an impressive 8-1 record as they begin their season, even though they sit 20th in the league with an average of 110 points per game. Despite the modest scoring metrics, the team’s effectiveness lies in their ability to work together, with multiple players capable of leading in scoring on any given night.
In a recent game against the Detroit Pistons, Jaylen Brown emerged as the team’s leading scorer with 30 points, highlighting the depth of talent available to the 76ers. This game was particularly significant as the Pistons remain the only team to have defeated Philadelphia so far this season.
Maxey attributed part of the team’s unselfishness to James’s influence, emphasizing that as an experienced leader in his 24th NBA season, James has set a tone for how the team operates. “All the ego stuff and the one-ball stuff that we hear, it’s going to be okay because LeBron’s here, and he has made everybody willing passers,” Maxey remarked following the 76ers’ victory over the Pistons. “When LeBron can be a willing passer, the rest of us can too.”
The collaborative spirit among the players could prove crucial as the season progresses. While it is still early in the campaign, the 76ers are making a strong case for their inclusion in championship discussions as they continue to build on their successful start.
