New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has been nominated as one of five contributors for the 2027 Pro Football Hall of Fame class, as announced on Wednesday. The Contributor Subcommittee reduced a field of 42 nominees to this select group. The subcommittee is set to meet again on November 17 to choose one nominee to advance to the full Selection Committee, which will make its final selections just prior to the Super Bowl.
Kraft is joined by Ralph Hay, Virginia McCaskey, Doug Williams, and John Wooten in this category. Last year, Kraft received the necessary votes to progress from the subcommittee but was notably excluded from the 2026 Hall of Fame class. This marks the first year he has moved beyond the subcommittee since becoming eligible.
Throughout his ownership since 1994, Kraft has overseen a period of significant success for the Patriots, which includes winning six Super Bowls and reaching five additional championship games, including last season’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Prior to Kraft’s ownership, the Patriots had only participated in one Super Bowl, which they lost. Additionally, Kraft has played an influential role in several NFL committees and was a driving force behind the establishment of Gillette Stadium, which opened in 2002.
Kraft’s previous bids for Hall of Fame recognition have faced challenges, with issues such as the Spygate and Deflategate scandals, as well as publicized controversies regarding his visits to a Jupiter, Florida massage parlor, influencing opinions among voters, according to a report from ESPN in 2024.
