ManpowerGroup has appointed Lidia Fonseca, the former executive vice president and chief digital and technology officer at Pfizer, to its board of directors, starting November 1, 2026. Fonseca’s extensive background in enterprise technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation is expected to enhance ManpowerGroup’s strategic initiatives.
Fonseca served at Pfizer from January 2019 until April 2026, where she was instrumental in overseeing the company’s enterprise AI, digital, and technology strategies. During her tenure, she established and expanded Pfizer’s enterprise AI program, which aimed to improve operational efficiency and accelerate business processes, while also focusing on organizational transformation and employee development.
Following her executive role, Fonseca remained involved with Pfizer as a senior advisor to the company’s CEO. She also serves on the board of Medtronic plc, a major medical technology company. Her previous experience includes senior technology leadership roles at Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp, where she managed technology functions critical to large-scale healthcare diagnostics operations.
Jonas Prising, chair and CEO of ManpowerGroup, highlighted Fonseca’s unique blend of technology leadership and business transformation experience. “Lidia brings a rare combination of technology leadership, business transformation experience and a clear understanding of how AI can create value at scale,” Prising stated. He emphasized that her strategic perspective and proven track record in leading change would significantly contribute to the company’s evolution and its transformation strategy.
The addition of Fonseca comes as ManpowerGroup focuses on leveraging technology and AI to enhance workforce solutions and client services amid an industry increasingly shaped by these advancements. Workforce solutions providers, like ManpowerGroup, are adapting their services by utilizing technology for recruitment, candidate assessment, skills development, and workforce management.
Fonseca’s extensive knowledge in implementing enterprise-wide AI solutions positions her well to advise the board on technology investments and operational transformation. Her experience provides valuable insights, especially as the workforce landscape is rapidly changing with advancements in automation and digital platforms.
While ManpowerGroup has yet to specify if Fonseca will take on any specific board committees or disclose changes in the board’s size, her immediate contributions will likely align with the ongoing integration of digital capabilities into the company’s operational framework.
Fonseca holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, along with an MBA and a Master of Business Informatics from the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University. Her educational background in business administration and information systems complements her leadership roles in technology and operations.
