Australia has announced its roster for the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC), set to take place from November 12 to 15 at the Tokyo Dome. This marks the third edition of the tournament, featuring teams from Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei.
This year’s tournament is significant for Australia as it will be the country’s second appearance, following a fourth-place finish in the previous championship.
The APBC is an under-24 tournament, where teams are allowed to include three overage players under the age of 29. Australia’s roster includes several standout players.
Key Players
Brent Iredale, 3B: The 23-year-old third baseman, selected in the seventh round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, had a challenging start to the 2026 season. After struggling to a .228 OPS in 12 games in Single-A, he was reassigned to the Florida Complex League. Upon his return to Single-A Bradenton, he rebounded significantly, recording a .983 OPS with 14 home runs and 37 RBIs over 58 games. Iredale was subsequently promoted to High-A Greensboro for the playoffs.
Clayton Campbell, 1B: This 23-year-old first baseman from New Zealand recently reached High-A and Double-A with the Detroit Tigers. In 99 games, Campbell achieved a .741 OPS, hitting 10 home runs and driving in 55 RBIs. His 10 home runs this season surpassed his total from the previous two seasons combined.
Conor Myles, P: The 25-year-old pitcher concluded his college baseball career at the University of Texas at San Antonio with a record of 10-1 and a 3.28 ERA, along with 65 strikeouts in 74 innings. Recognized as the American Conference Pitcher of the Year, Myles is expected to take the mound as Australia’s No. 1 starter during the tournament.
Australia will kick off the APBC on November 12 against South Korea, followed by a game against Chinese Taipei on November 13, and will conclude round-robin play against Japan on November 14. The championship game and third-place matchup are slated for November 15.
