A senior executive from Tech Mahindra was shot dead in Faridabad on Friday night following a dispute over parking and a pet dog. Paramjeet Dhankhar, the company’s Asia head, had recently returned from Singapore for a family wedding and was attacked outside his residence in Sector 21C.
According to police, Dhankhar was shot nearly 15 times by his neighbor, Monu Sharma, using a licensed pistol, with nine of the bullets striking him. He died at the scene.
The incident stemmed from ongoing tensions between the two families regarding parking arrangements and the neighbor’s dog, which allegedly defecated in the designated parking area. Police reported that on the night of the shooting, Dhankhar returned from the gym and discovered Sharma’s vehicle occupying his parking spot. When he confronted the neighbor, Sharma allegedly opened fire.
After the shooting, Sharma and his family fled the scene. Dhankhar’s son, Shaurya, contacted the police, who arrived to find several empty cartridge cases at the location. The area was subsequently cordoned off for investigation.
Dhankhar resided on the first floor of building number 641 in Sector 21C, while Sharma and his family lived on the third floor. Suraj Kund police station SHO Prahlad noted that tensions had previously flared between the two families, with a quarrel occurring four to five days earlier during an argument between Sharma and Shaurya, though that issue had been resolved at that time.
A case has been filed against Monu Sharma (also known as Mohan), along with his wife Divya, son Mayank, daughter Naina, and brother Hetram, based on Shaurya’s complaint. Dhankhar’s body has been sent to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Dhankhar had arrived in India on November 5 and was scheduled to attend his nephew’s wedding on November 24.
