A man wanted on sexual assault charges involving minors in Williamson County has been arrested in the Dominican Republic and returned to U.S. custody, the U.S. Marshals Service reported.
Fernando Gonzalez Ramirez, a 32-year-old Panamanian national, was apprehended Monday after authorities confirmed his presence in the Dominican Republic. He faces multiple state charges stemming from allegations that he sexually assaulted several boys while managing a youth baseball program in Franklin between 2023 and 2024.
According to investigators, Gonzalez fled Tennessee upon learning of the investigation following reports from two boys. After disappearing, he traveled through Mexico, Japan, and Panama before a lead indicated he was in the Dominican Republic. The U.S. Marshals Service coordinated with its Foreign Field Office in the region, leading to his capture within hours of that information being sent.
Gonzalez was flown to New Jersey on Tuesday evening and is now awaiting extradition to Tennessee to face the charges. The investigation by the Franklin Police Department is ongoing, with authorities indicating there may be additional, unidentified victims.
Anyone with information regarding Gonzalez is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-877-WANTED2 or by email at [email protected].
