Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer and brother of the late Princess Diana, has released a new book titled “Swan Song,” which presents his perspective on events surrounding Diana’s life and death. The book attempts to address feelings of grievance and misrepresentation that Spencer claims to have endured over the years.
Diana Spencer, a former nursery-school teacher, garnered international attention after her engagement to Prince Charles in February 1981. The daughter of a broken family, she had two older sisters and a younger brother, all of whom stepped into the public eye as Diana’s fame grew. Her lavish wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral on July 29, 1981, and her tragic funeral at Westminster Abbey sixteen years later became two of the most prominent televised events of the late 20th century.
