MUNICH, Oct. 20, 2026 — AmplexDiagnostics and Scope Biosciences have announced the development of a new molecular diagnostic solution that combines the LAMP and CRISPR technologies, named eazySNP. This innovative approach allows for the rapid and specific detection of genetic variants and has received CE-IVD certification, marking a significant advancement in the field of molecular diagnostics.
The collaboration aims to address the challenges of identifying clinically relevant mutations in pathogens. The initial application of the eazySNP technology focuses on the detection of Candida auris, a multidrug-resistant yeast pathogen that poses significant clinical challenges. The eazySNP C. auris FKS1 S639 test is the first CE-IVD diagnostic test utilizing this technology, enabling precise identification of mutations in the FKS1 gene that are associated with resistance to echinocandins, the first-line treatment for C. auris. This assay delivers results in just 45 minutes when performed directly from a yeast colony on the AmplexDiagnostics eazyMini platform.
Bas van der Baan, CEO of Scope Biosciences, highlighted the launch as a pivotal moment for the company, stating, “Our CRISPR technology has moved from a versatile platform to a regulated product that addresses a concrete diagnostic need. Together with AmplexDiagnostics, we have translated single-nucleotide precision into a practical assay for routine laboratories.” He also noted that this marks their entry into human diagnostics while still focusing on expanding their offerings in plant health.
